YGG Play Brings the Party to Art Basel Miami Beach

December 16, 2025

YGG Play made waves at Art Basel Miami Beach on December 3-7, 2025, connecting with early crypto degens who got started flipping NFTs on OpenSea — and are now diving into Casual Degen games.

Over the week, YGG Play teamed with OpenSea to set up the YGG Play House at El Portal, featuring the Web3 game publisher’s expanding collection of Casual Degen games for the community to explore.

The event coincided with the launch of Art Basel’s newest curated space for contemporary digital art, Zero 10. One of the most talked about displays at Zero 10 featured robot dogs with photorealistic wax heads resembling Mark Zuckerberg, Elon Musk, Andy Warhol, and the installation’s creator, Beeple. The robots took photos of visitors and "pooped" AI-reinterpreted prints with linked NFTs.

YGG Play and OpenSea Spotlight Casual Degen Experiences

The collaboration between YGG Play and OpenSea followed an X Space with OpenSea’s Head of Partnerships Oliver Maroney and YGG co-founder Gabby Dizon. During the chat, Gabby shared his “Holy shit” moment that locked him into Web3, when he realized in the CryptoKitties era that game assets could live onchain.

Gabby explained to Oliver that this early insight still shapes his strategy for YGG Play today. He is focused on building Web3-native products now because he believes stablecoins will make the Web3 market itself mainstream over time, not the other way around. Rather than onboarding mainstream users first and forcing them into Web3 later, he sees more sense in building natively for where the crypto degens are already converging. This is why YGG Play avoids Google, Apple, credit cards and chargebacks, and instead designs around stablecoin rails.

Oliver connected this thinking to his trip to Manila, Philippines, to attend the YGG Play Summit, where he realized how insulated the U.S. market can be. In Southeast Asia, where much of YGG’s original onboarding efforts were focused, Oliver saw how users adopt Web3 wallets and stablecoins out of necessity not ideology, reinforcing the idea that today’s Web3-native markets are tomorrow’s mainstream.

The two co-hosted several whole-day events, where Casual Degen titles like LOL Land and GIGACHADBAT took center stage. The festivities also included a launch party for Waifu Sweeper, the new anime-inspired puzzle game from Raitomira, YGG Play’s latest publishing partner.

Other events were Brunch & Battle, where guests could compete to get the highest scores in LOL Land and Proof of Play Arcade. Gigaverse also joined the action, leading a takeover to give giganoobs a head start in exploring the dungeons of the hit crypto RPG.

Waifu Sweeper Unveiled at Art Basel

The Waifu Sweeper launch event drew figures from the global crypto gaming community, including Michael Christine of Andrometa, Miss Rosa of Miss W Project, Tony V of GlitterCloud, Abstract Chain creators B U, ProofOfEly, GMB, 0xMeow, and SnaG, Glassape of Lurky, WolvesCo member Jerry Singer, Unfiltered host Daryl Quan, YGG Play ambassadors Dub and Iceyyy, and so many more.

Currently in pre-release, the game was unveiled for the first time with Dub livestreaming the gameplay reveal from the YGG Play House. Throughout the evening, gamers lined up to test their skills and beat the game in the fastest time possible.

Finally, attendees were granted an exclusive proof-of-attendance Waifu Sweeper NFT, a souvenir in the form of a soulbound token to commemorate their time at the YGG Play House. The NFT was minted on Abstract and claimable on OpenSea for all attendees.

Chads and Waifus Chase High Scores

GIGACHADBAT also had several events planned around the Casual Degen baseball game. The CHAD Party arrived at Miami Beach this year, where each guest was gifted an exclusive commemorative NFT claimable on OpenSea.

YGG Play and OpenSea also hosted the Chads & Waifus Throwdown, which included a GIGACHADBAT Digital Batting Cage Competition. For two hours, chads and waifus could swing for the fences and bat for the highest score, longest hit, or max points. The event also featured a high-score challenge for Waifu Sweeper.
