YGG Play and Pudgy Penguins Celebrate Asia with LOL Land’s Pengu Wonderland

Pengu Wonderland, the newest map in LOL Land, was built through a collaboration between two of Southeast Asia’s strongest Web3 communities, Yield Guild Games (YGG) and Pengu Asia, the APAC banner for Pudgy Penguins launched by Igloo Inc.’s new regional arm, Igloo APAC. The map celebrates Asian culture and the region’s growing Web3 community by showcasing iconic landmarks and community-owned NFTs.

Celebrating Growth in Asia

Pengu Asia has seen noticeable growth across Asia in the last year, holding gatherings across 13 countries, from meetups to large-scale events alongside major conferences like TOKEN2049, Taipei Blockchain Week, and Consensus Hong Kong. With YGG’s established footprint in the region, the collaboration allowed more people to tap into Web3 gaming and Casual Degen games like LOL Land. 

The celebration of this growth is shown in Pengu Wonderland, which features landmarks and cultural symbols from countries where both communities have built a strong presence.

The featured landmarks in the map include:

• China’s Tiantan and Shanghai TV Tower
• Hong Kong’s HSBC Building and red-sail junk boat
• Malaysia’s Petronas Twin Towers
• The Philippines’ jeepney
• Singapore’s Merlion
• Taiwan’s Taipei 101

Built with the Community

Pengu Wonderland was built with the community. Using Igloo Inc.’s licensing platform OverpassIP, YGG licensed 5 Pudgy Penguins and 15 Lil Pudgys, which allowed holders to monetize their NFTs while also seeing them used in-game.

Community members from Asia were represented through their licensed NFTs, including Pudgy Penguins owned by Brian (#6300), Kinglongwu (#652), and Swam (#2637), as well as Lil Pudgys owned by Elizabeth (#5644), Dan (#18079), Bam (#1586), Symphony (#5743), and Kit (#19084). All of the Pudgy Penguins NFTs and LOL Land are powered by Abstract Chain, developed by Igloo Inc.

The latest expansion of LOL Land shows how local communities can co-create and be part owners of the game worlds they play in. Pengu Wonderland is a combination of community, technology, and culture.
